I like trying new things, especially if they are food related. Come spring I decided I wanted to do a brunch tour around Madrid trying different places every other Sunday. This combination of breakfast and lunch is rather new in Spain. However, more and more restaurants are offering a brunch menu these days. Frida is one of them.
Located in Chueca neighborhood, this restaurant doesn’t close its doors after lunch time until dinner like many Spanish restaurants do. They offer a creative cuisine, taking care of every detail regarding both their food and the decor. The venue is filled with light since most of the walls are windows. The furniture consists of wooden tables and colorful chairs. On a beautiful summer day you can enjoy your food al fresco in their terrace.
The menu offers a mixture of Mediterranean-international cuisine. I was surprised by the huge variety of smoothies which are one of their specialties. You can choose your favorite by their ingredients or by your needs. They have intriguing names such as antioxidant, anti-hangover, tropical, etc. We had a revitalizing smoothie made with banana and strawberries and an aphrodisiac one that consists of carrot, apple and strawberries. As for the food we tried their delicious pancakes with blueberries and maple syrup and also the mouthwatering crepes filled with sweet ham, cheese and mornay.
If you are in Madrid be sure to pop by either for lunch or dinner. They offer brunch on weekends from 10 am to 2 pm. If you are more of a night owl you’ll love their cocktails.
