So today I’m going to give you some ideas on how to style this traditional Japanese piece of clothing. The one I’m wearing is by Pepe Jeans. It’s currently 50% off, unfortunately it’s sold out online but you can still find it in stores. This is actually a sneak peek of Monday’s post which is going to be a Madrid Fashion Shopping Guide.
Without further ado here are my favorite ways to style a kimono.
Kimono + jeans + plain tee
This is my favorite type of combination. It’s comfortable and versatile. You can wear it to work (perfect for us teachers!) or for a night out just changing your accessories. You can wear your kimono with:
- boyfriend jeans and a lace trim top
- a crisp white button down shirt and distressed skinny jeans
- a pair of shorts and a plain top
The cover-up
One of the many uses of the kimono is to wear over your swimsuit/bikini at the beach or as a gown over your underwear at home.
The boho look
I’m thinking kimono over lace dress and a fringed bag…the kind of thing you’d wear to a music festival.
The kimono dress
Not much styling needed. Grab your favorite basket bag and sandals and you are ready to go.
The long kimono/duster
All kimonos look great with a pair of jeans and a plain tee. However, you can add an element of bohemian romance by styling this type of kimono over a solid slip dress.
Are you a fan of kimonos? How do you style yours?

LINKUP
I often talk about the importance of bloggers collaborating with each other. In fact, a few weeks ago I posted A Guide to Fashion Blogger Linkups because I think they are a remarkable way to promote your blog and to connect with fellow bloggers. So this week I’m co-hosting the Fabulous Friday linkup with the lovely and sweet Jennie from A Pocketful of Polka Dots. Click on the InLinkz button at the end of this post to share your style with us and meet other fabulous bloggers!

I am so glad you are co-hosting Fab Friday dear Cristina. You look great as always. Love that kimono, I need one, too.
BTW, I finally e-mailed you about co-hosting so please check that out. I am so sorry it took me so long but I have been so busy this month at work and had a lot going on at home, too.
That kimono is so cute. I love it!

Great kimono!!
Cristina, I am so happy to have you join me this week as co-host! Thank you.
Your kimono is fabulous! I really like the dark floral and shorter length. They really do elevate basics so well. I enjoyed seeing the other ideas you had for styling them. I usually style mine with jeans or shorts and a tee or tank. I need to try them with some dress options for more variety.
I've been loving kimonos for the summer!! They are the best way to add a topper, but not overheat!!
