Perrachica, Madrid

As you may have seen on my InstaStories, last Friday we had our Valentine’s Day celebration at Perrachica. One of Madrid’s trendiest restaurants, it’s famous for its stylish decor. The place is huge and consists of different areas all decorated in different styles. I recommend this place if you visit Madrid and you are eager to hang out with the coolest locals. We went at lunchtime and there was a wide range of people: trendy couples and groups of friends, mothers and daughters, business men and women having a lunch break… But be sure to book in advance, despite the size it fills up quickly. I found out about this place thanks to Pinterest, I created a board where I pin all the places I want to visit in Madrid. That’s how I also discovered Perrachica’s little sister Frida, we had brunch there last year and loved it.

This is what we ordered:
First we ordered two appetizers croquettes squid in its own ink and Parmesan curd with cherry tomatoes and basil. We loved the croquettes but I expected something different from the other one. I guess I imagined it would look more like a salad and the tomatoes wouldn’t be cooked so I was disappointed.

For the main curse I ordered hake covered in a prawn sauce which was delicious. On the other hand, my fiance ordered the burger with brie, rocket and caramelized onion, even though he liked it, he’s had better.

Now, we both agreed that the best part was dessert. We ordered the two recommendations you can find in the menu: mascarpone cheesecake with Oreo and the chocolate cake with galleta Maria and Lacasitos.

If we had to rate the restaurant we’d give it a 7 out of 10. We didn’t like our table very much because it was tiny. Considering it’s such a big restaurant we felt uncomfortable on such a tiny space. Although, if you are a bigger party the tables are much roomier. As for the food, I must say this is the first time we’ve been to Perrachica so maybe we didn’t chose the right dishes for us. However, there’s something that my fiance said that made me think and I want to discuss it with you. He believes that fancy restaurants don’t always have the best food. It’s those restaurants that don’t take any care of their appearance that have the most delicious dishes. As much as I like cute eateries -they are a feast for the eyes- I admit he’s partly right. We’ve been to places that are not Instagram-able at all but whose food is so good, we’ll never forget it. Do you agree?

  1. I couldn't agree with your fiance more. There's a saying in Greece "when your hear that there are too many cherries, grab a small basket". So that you don't get disappointed! Botht the places look beautiful, although if we ever visit Madrid i'd rather taste something simpler.
